Why Kuali NextGen?

The decision to adopt Kuali NextGen reflects our goal to provide you with a tool that enhances efficiency, collaboration, and alignment with best practices. Here’s why it’s a game-changer:

Simplified Workflow
Feedback from previous users indicated that the plan development process was overly complex, making it challenging to achieve the desired final product. The new system focuses on ease of use, enabling even first-time users to navigate and update plans effortlessly.
Strategic Insights
Built-in dashboards and analytics give us real-time insights into the status of your plans and readiness. In addition, it helps us see the larger operational picture of the university.
Lifelines Integration
Kuali NextGen aligns with our recently adopted campus lifelines structure, allowing your plans to incorporate these critical components seamlessly.

What’s New in Kuali NextGen?

  1. Dynamic Plan Templates: The dynamic templates within the workflows are designed to accommodate various lists, information, and plan structures, tailored to different units and lifelines, ensuring your plan meets the unique needs of your department or area.
  2. Dependency Mapping: Preidentified dependency options have been added for centrally owned IT applications and lifeline dependencies that will assist in identifying vulnerabilities and enhancing the university’s interconnected systems.
  3. Collaborative Workspaces: Multiple team members can now work on the same plan simultaneously, improving accuracy and efficiency.
  4. Primary Plan Contacts: Plans will now identify one Continuity Plan Manager, Department/Unit Head, and IT Plan Manager. These contacts will have specified roles and will serve as the primary contacts for plan development/updates.
  5. Automated Alerts: Built-in reminders for plan updates and review cycles will help keep your plans current.
  6. Resource Integration: Access to user information, including guides, checklists, and training materials, can now be found directly in the forms and workflow as you work through the planning process.

Transition Timeline

Kuali NextGen is more than just new technology—it represents a step toward fostering a more integrated and adaptable culture of preparedness. Access to the platform will officially launch in 2025. During the transition period, you will retain access to your archived Kuali Plan. We will also notify you when it’s time to transition your plan as part of your next scheduled update cycle.
Throughout the coming year, we’ll continue to enhance our continuity planning process by incorporating your valuable feedback and insights. This is your chance to fully leverage a platform designed to support and empower you in your role as a plan manager.

Stay resilient, be Mission Ready!
